Molly Carlson is a professional cliff diver/high diver. She’s very open with her own body issues and anxieties, is an advocate for mental health, and has a group called BraveGang for supporting each other through what could be crippling fear and anxiety.
The story post before this one, she admitted that every time she jumps, she’s scared. But she does it anyway, and when she hits the water, she wants to do it all over again.
I just realized that while I’m nervous every time I hit a competitive dance floor, or even every time I do a show performance, there’s a little bit of fear and anxiety and adrenaline rush. But once the music starts, it’s just adrenaline, no fear, and dance strategy for floorcraft. And I walk off the floor wanting to do it all again.
Just a quick reminder that there will be a social dance THIS FRIDAY at Cecil College, Elkton Station, 107 Railroad Avenue, Elkton, MD. There will be a mini-lesson from 6 to 6:30, and dancing from 6:30 to 9. $5 per person! There will be snacks and beverages available.
This will be holiday-themed, so feel free to wear red and green, or blue and silver. Music/Dances will include, but are not limited to, Waltz, Tango, FoxTrot, Rumba, ChaCha, Swing, Hustle, Merengue, Salsa, Bachata, Nightclub 2-step, and more!
On Sunday, December 14th, we will have a Bolero workshop from 6-7:15 at St. Thomas Episcopal Church in Newark, DE. Note that we will be in the Undercroft area beneath the Great Hall where our classes are normally held. I’m told there will be signage directing people to the Undercroft.
Everyone is welcome! No previous dance experience is required, nor is a fixed dance partner.

In January, we tentatively have a workshop planned for Sunday the 11th, a social dance on Sunday the 18th, and our next 4-week session in Swing starting on the 25th!
Classes at Cecil College will resume the first week in February.
Starting Sunday, November 16th, we’ll be teaching Beginner Tango at 6pm, and Intermediate Tango at 7pm. No experience is necessary. Classes will automatically adjust to the overall skill level of class attendees.
The session will start on Sunday, November 16th and run for FOUR weeks until Sunday, December 7th.
